Fuck, I said it was gonna be a form FOR FUN! And then I go around rping and flesh it out way too goddamn much!
...yeah here's a full ref... pfft. One of my more detailed and beter looking refs to be fair, FOR I HAVE MASTERED THE ART OF PHOTOSHOP GRID LINES! *level up!* *shot*
YEP! So yeah, I took a lot of liberties and fleshing out with this one. Basically Pyrope ended up being a bit of a fiery walking bomb after a few RPS with her. And I also turned her typical crap habit at magic into an actual handicap for her. I made a concept, because I love making concepts for any show I'm into: Rough gem. I made it because I always thought, the gems in the show are so clean cut... what would happen if one isn't?

:bulletred: A rough gem is basially a gem that couldn't finnish it's clean cutting process when it was made, for one reason or another. The lack of a clean cut leads to a chaotic reaction for the gem's magic. Most rough gems that are made are only semi rough, still capable of doing some magic, usually the magic only specific to their person, however, due to being so common, semi roughs are still called rough. A 100% rough gem is unable to do any magic, and that includes pulling out their weapon.
Roughs are also very hard to fuse with, as they usually lack a certain grace or capability to dance and adapt their dance to others. In exchange, however, their rough nature actually makes fusions sturdier and stronger once pulled out.
The upside of roughs is that the more rough, the stronger their body will be. They can match strength with some fusions even. The downside, besides for the lack of magic, is the fact that they are more susceptible to other gem's magic and effects, and even the magic they have cannot reach the true potential intended for them. They also tend to be more reliant on pure instinct rather then thinking, making even their succesful fusions a risk for berskerking.
Roughs are usually treated as the brainless jockey of the gem world, despite their rough nature only affecting their magic and not their minds (unless they are 100% rough). However, since magic is such a big part of gems, they are treated as inferior and flawed, and since they lack magic and their susceptibility to it is a big flaw, they are usually assigned for jobs as kamikaze soldiers. Because of these assignments, the gems don;t need to think much, adding to their bad immage of inferior intellect.
At first glance, unless the rough part is jutting out, roughs are very hard to identify. Unless people know a clean cut version of the gem, know or see their issues with magic or revert the body back into the gem to see the rough parts, they can pass on as normal gems. Most gems acclaimated to earth or born on earth won't even remember or know what a rough is anymore or care.

...yeah I don't think it's that great of a concept but I like it. XD Makes it a better excuse for a gem to not use magic then a lack of preference for it.

Hmm, a more comprehensive reference. I like the thing you have with her being a "rough Gem," as well as how she is inexperienced at bubbling and shapeshifting. The Glass Pillar attack sounds epic too! I think she's a great concept for a Gem!

That's pretty creative though, how she uses her own Semi-Immortality to blow herself up and then restore from her Gemstone as a sort of "Reusable Kamikaze" attack. Kind of reminds me of a Phoenix in ways, how they explode into ashes, then resurrect shortly afterwards.

By the way, I bet she'd get along with Ruby (both being really harsh when angered, and having Fire Powers, and a need to smash things).

Well it has been shown that there are multiple Gems with the same Elemental Powers, so there's nothing wrong with that though (i.e. whatever Gem that Ice Monster used to be, and Sapphire, both have Ice Powers). So this still works.
